Face Critique:

- The ears need a bit of work. They're lacking a lot of the subtle forms
- the eyebrow ridges seem pretty strong
- from the very side, the lower outer corner of the nose comes down a little too low I think.
- There's no form on his neck, especially on the back of his neck. and trapezius
- I think the upper back of the earlobes might actually be a bit thin from the back, but I could be wrong. Check his adam's apple too. Right now, it looks like a goiter I think.
- his eyelids seem a bit uneven. You'll need to straighten those out a bit more.
- the lips look good, but you may (or may not) need a bit more of an overlap/tuck on the corners of the lips.
- not fond of the hair, but I don't think that's final, right?
- On the ears, on the anterior loop of the helix (the outer edge of the earlobe) it flattens out and looks too thin, especially where the inferior crux meets it (the bottom part of the Y shape)
- The proportions seem ok, although I do wonder about the length of the face. from the eyes down is about 3/5 of the height. from some angles....might be perspective playing tricks on me.

Face Critique Based On Likeness:

- his eyebrows aren't that severe in the images. even if you consider the somewhat bushy eyebrows, they're not quite that severe. if you want to go for a sculpted eyebrow look reduce them, because the real eyebrows should look softer
- The chin on your model needs to be more rounded. When you did your comparison shot with the overlay, it was closer to the shape, but not the position. Now it needs more of a rounding on top of the forward bulge, if that makes any sense. right now, his chin looks like \ rather than Chris's ) shape
- The lower middle edge of the lips needs to be a bit more angled, so that coming up from the lip, there is more of a angle forward again like /. right now, it's a soft curve, and that lower edge should have more of an angle.
- The sides of his nostrils are actually taller than in your model, both in the original comparison and in your current one.
- His nose also points slightly down.
- also pay attention to the curve of his nostrils from when (from the side view) they curve away from the steptum of the nose around the nostrils, and then up, forward, and down again. yours are more straight, and the nostrils also start too far forward compared to where the nares meet the face.
- I don't know if it's a result of the angle again, but the model has a very short chin. That's actually something that needs to be looked at whether you do the likeness or not, as right now, it looks like he has a goiter or a hugely muscular neck or something.
- His ears are more rounded on top. Yours have a bit of a point. pay close attention to the shape of his ears. that's going to need a lot of work.
- the comparison shot had too much bump on the bridge of the nose, the current one doesn't have enough.
- he needs a little bit of a vertical column on the corners of his lips. you can see where the muscles of the upper lip and the fat deposits there form a bit of a column that very slightly obscures the lower lip corner from the side view.
- the lower lip also has a very slight indentation just inside of the above muscle
- I can't quite tell from the shot whether the eyes from the side need to forward or back, or the lower eyelid needs to angle a bit differently, but you need to look at that part.
- Chris also has a slightly puffy edge on his lower eyelid you can see it in these shots:
http://www.moviewallpaper.net/...
http://www.moviewallpaper.net/...
- the corner of his jaw is a tad too wide
- He needs a bit more of a recess under the zygomatic arch
- your model is more flat, the silhouette of his face in this shot:
http://www.moviewallpaper.net/...
- angles right, left, right, slightly left, and then down to his jaw
- the epicanthic fold (that fold above the eyelid) is too even/round on your model. he has a "point" above each eye right above the inside edge of the iris. It's more pronounced and higher on his right side.
- I can't see that edge above the tear ducts on his upper eyelid on the model either.
- all the pictures of him have him with a near scowl expression on his eyebrows, so that seems to be a more or less neutral expression for him. the inside of his eyebrows should be lower, although his right eyebrow angles downward, whereas his right is almost horizontal.
- check the shape and lines of the nostrils from the front too.
- Chris has a pretty full set of lips. Your model looks more like it has the lips pursed slightly.
- the corners of the lips on the model are a tad round too. his are somewhat angled more, like <=>
- I think the point of the jaw needs to come up a smidge on the model. It should be right in line with the lips.
- Also don't forget the compression folds on the eyebrows.

Re: Eyeball Test

- The bump on the eyeball is nice, but it's a tad strong. Not sure how much we would notice that at the usual distance form the camera though.
- the cornea and the sclera are more or less one contiguous piece of tissue, and the blood vessels are actually underneath a cornea-like covering around the eye
- but the blood vessels do still peturb the surface, just not as much as they would if they were right on the surface.
- on the eye you might have to turn it back up if it looks too smooth in the final renders

Re: Plans

WOOO!

But good progress so far!!

Re: Shot One: LET THE CRITIQUES BEGIN!

Adding a note:

The front reference image is symmetrical and has been derived from an asymmetrical photo. I am using this for modeling then going in after for asymmetry.
